The name ‘Urban Empress’ is inspired from our latent need to feel good about ourselves no matter what the situation, to be confident and self-assured in our own skin. What better then dressing up can make us feel that way!

 

What we aim to do is promote the Crafts of India, while playing dress up. Every product from the House of Urban Empress is an array of weaves, embroidery, block prints, paintings and a variety of art painstakingly created by the skilled Indian artisan. These products are created using simple, natural techniques relying solely on the knowledge being passed on over generations. Honestly, these artisans are oblivious to the real worth of their products, especially in today’s day and age where marketplaces are brimming with bulk manufactured copies. We at "Urban Empress" want to simply collaborate with these torchbearers of Indian heritage and hope to create a market for their products, so that the handiwork tradition of Indian sub-continent continues to inspire future generations.
